I have tried valiantly to create a classroom environment that focuses less on the teacher and more on the learning. My classroom mimics an Internet Cafe or College Commons, (as closely as I could). I have even used student artwork from our art department to decorate the classroom. I DO NOT have doors, so it's often confusing to know where the front of my classroom even is - just the way I like it.

Here's what my middle school classroom looked like:

Enrichment work stations for students to work
collaboratively on enrichment activities.
Focus Horseshoe - a designated spot for me to
gather students to teach a focus lesson as needed.

Re-Teaching Area: These tables are designed
for guided instruction with struggling learners.
A view from the back of my classroom.

I very rarely do large group instruction. I prefer tables to allow students to learn collaboratively and discuss math videos.

Some students often choose to sit on the floor on carpet squares I have.

You will notice I only have 4 individual desks - sometimes necessary for distracting learners.

For testing purposes, I spread out students as much as possible with "barriers" between eyes.
